From the moment Lula Landry was found outside the Mayfair building, dead, readers have been gripped with one question in mind: What happened? Robert Galbraith (pseudonym for J.K. Rowling) has entwined lies, secrets, and motives in this intriguing tale that keeps you hooked till the end.
This book starts with Lula Landry, a famous model in London who was found dead. The cops say that it was a suicide on her balcony, as she had records of being mentally unstable. Three months pass by, and Mr. John Bristow thinks foul play is about, finding the circumstances to be rather fishy. He approaches Cormoran Strike, who is a private investigator. Mr. Strike is unsure and quite skeptical about it;, however, he takes the case to pay off a loan given by his father, a famous rockstar. With the help of his temporary secretary, Ms. Robin Ellacot, he begins his investigation. When two start to investigate the case and interview witnesses, they realize case circumstances are a lot murkier than thought. The possibility of murder begins to enter the picture. Each clue brings them closer to the shocking truth but also puts their lives at greater risk. The Cuckoo’s Calling unfolds into a gripping tale where nothing is as it seems, and justice comes with a cost.
From my viewpoint, Cuckoo's Calling was written exceptionally as a murder case. One thing I could have preferred would have been a stronger lead character since I thought Mr. Strike was very laid-back. He doesn't tantalize readers with that sharp wit and determination, which mystery-lovers have come to expect from someone spearheading a murder mystery. However, leaving this aside, I think the book is a very close read indeed. There are all the twists and turns in the narrative that bring unexpected turns, which keep you right into the last moment. The tidily crafted moments of discovery and revelation felt well-earned and authentic, enhancing the depth that was truly satisfying to the story.
Overall, The Cuckoo’s Calling is a compelling and well-paced mystery. This is a great recommendation for fans of Agatha Christie or Robin Stevens. Readers who enjoy these authors would appreciate the slow-moving manner that is representative of The Cuckoo's Calling. Furthermore, it is in the same way excitingly engaging and intricately plotted that Dan Brown fans might also find this book to their taste. This book is appropriate for readers ages 13-18 due to the maturity needed to comprehend the extent to which plot complexities are understood. In conclusion, then, The Cuckoo's Calling is offering all one could ever want: for mystery lovers suspicious death, secrets, flawed characters and an exhilarating method of discovering the ultimate truth.
